With the $BIRB TGE recently, we want to highlight the momentum Orange Cap Games has built around community engagement for Moonbirds. The Moonbirds team has been leveraging Snag’s Rewards Shop minting protocol to enable users to mint unique SBTs across dozens of collaborations throughout the Web3 ecosystem. They’ve successfully been unlocking scalable revenue-generating incentive mechanics, deeper partner integrations, and sustainable community participation through on-chain minting and claim flows. 



Approaching SBTs vs Standard ‘Points’


The Moonbirds team has taken a different approach to launching community incentives that the consumer crypto world has become obsessed with since last summer. Instead of rewarding users with traditional points, they launched their first Anichess x Moonbird SBT


Traditionally, airdrop campaigns and pre-TGE incentive programs usually reward users through a standard points -> token playbook. Companies identify valuable users of their products and effectively track and reward their contributions with future token allocations at TGE. 


However, Moonbirds took a different approach. Instead of launching standard loyalty points with Snag, they started launching unique, limited edition SBT mint offerings - often in collaboration with other top blockchain companies like Coin Gecko, Jupiter Exchange, Nansen, and more. 


Retail investors were quick to identify that these SBT collectibles were tied to future rewards for users.

Communities embraced the “collector mindset”, leading to amazing traction from limited and unlimited mints. 



The Results


The Moonbirds team was able to produce amazing metrics that saw hundreds of thousands of unique users participate in SBT community mints. 

  • 223,401 unique assets were minted by Moonbirds community members in 4 months. 

  • 83,900 unique users minted a Coin Gecko SBT in an unlimited mint 1-week campaign.

  • Collaborations launched with 22 different leading Web 3 partner communities




Key Learnings from Moonbirds TGE playbook


Moonbirds $BIRB TGE on Solana will be one of the most notable token launches of this year. They’ve established a new go-to-market playbook that all crypto-native companies trying to build a consumer audience should look to learn from. 


Key Learnings:

  • Establish strategic partnerships with other companies that share a similar buying persona to your project’s token.

  • Reward users for contributing real onchain value and not just vanity metrics. 

  • Embrace the rarity and ‘the collector's mindset’ for assets that can only be given to small groups, whitelists, and pre-determined requisites. 

  • Points are a great model to establish pre-TGE token allocations, but they aren’t the only option for onchain reward distribution.
